The Lost Turkey Game Message

by Hiker Dan
Dear Friend,

As an avid nature enthusiast and hiker, my wife and I this past summer, had a unique experience to observe and study a flock of 11 turkeys that inhabit a nature center where we frequently walk in the evenings. When I awoke Oct. 28th with this idea for a game to play here on my Hiker4Jesus ministry, I believe the Holy Spirit wanted me to bring out a message that relates also to how fascinating it was for us to witness how God works in nature and cares for all His animals, birds, and How He works in all things. We can learn much from all of these marvelous wonders around us. That being said, I will share what I learned about turkeys.

I found it most interesting in how a ' lone turkey ' will run around haphazardly foraging about for food in the brush, appearing to be somewhat nervous and agitated, though not to say that it is not driven instinctively and would no doubt survive fairly well on it’s own. Or would it become a

' lost turkey ' and a victim of it’s own demise?

Howerver, when it joined the flock that was being watched over by a much larger and authoritative turkey (obviously the strongest and wisest turkey) who was guiding all the others it oversees through the day and night showing them the best way to go ~ the ' lone and lost turkey ' who was welcomed back into the flock ~ exhibited a much more peaceful and less agitated demeanor. It obviously to my eyes was trusting it's life fully to the head turkey who was protecting and watching over the entire flock ~ very much the same as Jesus our Lord and Shepherd will watch over each of His children whom He protects and cares for individually as if there were no others. How awesome and incredible has that reality been fully realized by me.

Witnessing this scenario a few times over towards the end of summer, as we sat quietly and watched this flock of turkeys, made me think not only of God’s children who do not yet know and follow Jesus as their own personal Lord and Savior; but also of us already believers who many times will stumble and become a little lost, and even fall down.

How many times have I myself strayed and found myself
' lost ' and in a dazed, uneasy, agitated state just like the wandering ' lone ' turkey when I was not paying attention to where Jesus was guiding me; hence I made bad choices and decisions that only led to even more unrest and agitation inside of me. Just like a ' lost ' turkey we can then become victims of our own circumstances and situations we find ourselves in ~ but the good news is that when we have Jesus to guide us and when we keep our eyes and ears focused on Him we will find that He will always lead us on the best pathway for our life, no matter what the circumstance or situation is as we mature and grow to become who we were meant to be as child of God in Christ Jesus.

Thus, the deeper message of my game is simply this ~
" Without Jesus you will remain like the ' lone and lost ' turkey." ~ I can say that with the authority of what I've learned time and time over again in my own life and know to be the absolute truth as taught me by Jesus and His Word that I believe and trust in full faith as it is so written … in The Bible.

“ Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” ~  1 John 5:12

The truth is that we can choose to reject His free gift of salvation and eternal life that Jesus Christ offers.  John's Gospel tells us, "God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God" (3:17-18).

But, it you really want to be assured of your salvation, you can only do so by giving control of your life to Jesus allowing Him to save you from yourself.

God clearly states that whoever believes in Jesus Christ will be saved (v. 16). And the Bible stresses that we have only this earthly life in which to make a choice, do not be fooled for ~ there are no second chances after death and there is no other way.

“Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.” ~ John 14:6

Jesus' free gift of salvation and eternal life is available to everyone, no matter who you are, what you’ve done in the past or wherever you are in right now in your life. You just need to sincerely open your heart and pray asking for His forgiveness and accepting Jesus for who He really is. Receive Him as your Lord and Savior and you will never have to wonder what awaits you in eternity ever again.

That is the message I share with you and I stand on every word as it was given to me today in my heart.

I thank all of you who have joined in the fun playing my game and I hope you were blessed in some small way at the same time. I always appreciate and welcome your thoughts on my Hiker Notes, so please leave a comment.

After I have the drawing on Thankgiving Day, you can check back here where I will post the winner's names and the Bible verses they have submitted.

God bless you my friend,

Prayers and blessings,
In all things Jesus,
Hiker Dan

Our Journey With Jesus † The Beatitudes

Our Journey With Jesus † The Beatitudes
read in Matthew 5:1-12

Picture
Truly I tell you, a Journey of the Heart can only start from within, when you are in a personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. That is when He will show you things and take you places beyond your wildest dreams.

Whenever you are troubled, lost and hurting, and need a true and  faithful friend, you can go within yourself and you will find Him waiting to walk and talk with you in that special place within yourself beside His still waters and green pastures.

He is really there and He is everywhere for everyone. If you seek Him with an open, honest, sincere and repentant heart; He will meet you, no matter who you are or wherever you may be in your life right now. He will renew your present life and fulfill the emptiness of spirit that is inside of you.

No one will ever be complete without Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior;  because we were created to be His children and apart from Him we are nothing but a vapor in the wind.

That is the truth that I know from all that Jesus has taught me and I trust in full faith that He will make me a better man. I am and will always then be a work in progress for Him and no man or anything can ever take that away from me.

Given a choice, when you accept Christ and receive His free gift of eternal life by His blood that He shed  on a cross for all the sins of the entire world, that is when the healing will truly begin. He will forgive all you have ever done against God and He can take away all the hurts of your past life and give you true peace and joy in your new life with Him. He loves all His children the same and He doesn't want to lose anyone.

Peace be with you and your spirit,

One with Jesus, in His love and care,

We know Jesus! Do You?

When Things Seem Impossible

When Things Seem Impossible
†And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.†

Dear Friend,

This message today was inspired by Dr. Charles Stanley's ministry as I get daily devotionals from him that are most encouraging. And, as I've been experiencing a very rough patch in my life, today's message was a comfort to me this morning.

Dr. Stanley writes in a simple to understand way about God's principles of directions for living a 'better' life in Christ Jesus. It makes me ponder even more what I've said myself so many times that Christianity and a life lived in Jesus is not brain surgery by God and yet so many Christian Clergy, Pastors, and Teachers of God's Way ~ make it so much harder and so very complicated when it really isn't.

Now you may not agree with everything I share here in my Hiker Notes, which I believe it all to be food for thought that comes from my Jesus heart and you may chalk it up as my opinions. That is your perogative and your own perspective then in how you may see things differently or may not know Jesus yet as your Lord and Savior and do not experience a deep connection and personal relationship with Him.

After all, we can be at different levels of understanding in what Jesus teaches us individually and where we are in that ongoing growth process as His children of God. I know that in my heart is where most of my life change is now occurring and I believe that in my heart dwells my inner child who knows Jesus far more intimately than my outer man who suffers all the inflictions of this world. (( another story for another day )).

I will continue to put my full trust in my Lord and Savior who never steers me wrong and I know and fully realize that it becomes this simple. We are many times over our own demise and many times over the circumstances of our lives could have been different had we kept our eyes on Jesus in the first place and followed His principles and directions in how to live no matter what circumstances we may find ourselves in.

The biggest comfort I will add today to that mouth full my friend is that no matter how 'mucky' your life is; thinking you have failed at everything so far and/or maybe you are just feeling badly about a bunch of stuff and so many things lately ... Please know that we are still physical human beings, and we are allowed and supposed to feel all these things and more. For this is the very reason we were endowed with feelings in the first place. All part of God's bigger picture for your life and all meant to bring you back to Jesus!

Everything has it's purpose and place and all we will endure in this earthly life is meant to bring us back to our Creator, back to Jesus Christ, for He does not want to lose any of us. We are all special in His sight and we are all His children. He love endures all things ~ that is a life lesson and heartfelt truth I share here, plain and simple ... not brain surgery at all!

All we were, all we are now, and all we will become was mapped out for us by Jesus at the beginning of time before we were born. And know this; when we became born again and saved by the blood of Jesus ~ all the sinfulness of our former self, what we were and all we did / or did not do, was washed away as we began our journey seeking a new life in Christ. We are forever being redeemed and transformed, as we are becoming a new creation ~ one with Jesus.

When I examine myself, lol, which I seem to do almost everyday as I try to do better and become a better physical man, I wake up and can see all the reality in what I do share here on Strength For The Journey and then I myself can hear clearly again that God does have a plan for me and my life.. I know regardless of my present circumstances that God's Way for me is still and will always be the Best Way and the Only Way for me.

I thank Jesus every morning I awake with a new hope and feeling of renewal.. I thank Him for not giving up on me as I am a living work in progress.

Thanks for reading and visiting with me today my friend,. You are always welcome to comment and share your own inspirations and testimonies with me as we journey on in our hearts for Jesus.

May God, bless you and keep you,
In His Love, Comfort and Peace,
your brother in Jesus,, Hiker Dan

My Prayer ~ Dear Jesus, Thank You Lord for You! Thank You for not giving up on me and for fresh starts and new beginnings every day. No matter how I feel or what this day may bring,; I will Praise You knowing that You are with me and I can be rest assured that You will help me get through this day with new hope and faith.
I Love You Jesus! ~ Amen.

When Things Seem Impossible
Jeremiah 32:17-22

What is your first reaction when you encounter a difficult circumstance—one that looks impossible? Some people go into "overdrive" searching for an answer or a way out. Others curl up in defeat or withdrawal, either declaring the situation hopeless or trying to avoid it altogether. Hopefully, as a Christian, you turn immediately to the Lord, seeking His guidance. But what you ask Him is very important.

* O Lord, what am I going to do? At first glance, this seems like the right thing to ask, but is it? The problem with this question is that even though we are seeking the Lord's guidance, the focus is on our actions. That means the way we think about how to handle the situation is limited to our abilities, resources, and understanding. All too often, our minds will begin to devise possible plans, and we soon resort to manipulating and maneuvering in an attempt to fix the problem.

·* God, what are You going to do? This is the right question because now the focus has shifted to the omniscience and omnipotence of almighty God. He blows the sides out of any box that confines us and untangles any situation that baffles us. He has the power to carry out His plans, which—unlike our solutions—are perfect, always bringing Him glory.

To truly pray the second prayer, you must be willing to surrender all your plans into His hands. Not only does He know what to do and how to accomplish it, but He can also make a way through any impossibility. Your job is simply to trust Him and obediently follow His directions.

Dr. Charles Stanley
